Job Overview

Stone River Group is a growing Canadian company focused on operational excellence, strategic growth, and scalable business systems. We are seeking a senior\-level Virtual Chief Financial Officer (CFO) based in Pakistan to lead the company’s financial oversight, reporting, forecasting, and strategic financial direction.

This is not a bookkeeping or administrative accounting role. Stone River Group already has accounting support staff and operational systems in place. The Virtual CFO will serve as the senior financial authority responsible for financial accuracy, clarity, leadership, and strategic guidance across the organization.

This role reports directly to ownership and collaborates closely with leadership on financial planning, profitability, cash flow, and growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

Financial Ownership \& Leadership

  • Take full ownership of company\-wide financial reporting and financial health.
  • Act as the senior financial authority for Stone River Group.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to support continued growth and scalability.
  • Advise leadership on margins, pricing, profitability, and capital allocation.
  • Support executive decision\-making through clear financial insight and analysis.

Financial Reporting \& Analysis

Produce and present executive\-level financial reporting, including:

  • Monthly Profit \& Loss Statements
  • Balance Sheets
  • Cash Flow Statements
  • Division\-level and project\-level profitability analysis
  • Forecasts, budgets, and rolling projections
  • Variance analysis with explanations and recommendations

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Building dashboards and KPIs for leadership visibility
  • Translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights
  • Improving financial visibility across operations

Oversight of Accounting Team

  • Oversee internal accounting staff and finance support personnel.
  • Review and validate accounting work including AP, AR, payroll, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure month\-end close is accurate, timely, and reliable.
  • Establish and maintain financial controls and standards.
  • Improve accounting workflows and operational efficiency without performing data entry yourself.

Cash Flow, Forecasting \& Risk Management

  • Own cash flow forecasting and working capital planning.
  • Monitor receivables, payables, and cash reserves.
  • Identify financial risks early and recommend proactive solutions.
  • Support lender reporting, banking relationships, and financing requirements where needed.

Tax \& External Coordination

Act as the primary finance contact for:

  • External accountants
  • Tax advisors
  • Auditors

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring financials are properly prepared for Canadian tax compliance
  • Supporting corporate tax planning and filings in coordination with Canadian professionals
  • Assisting with GST/HST\-related financial oversight where required

Systems \& Process Improvement

  • Oversee and improve financial systems and reporting processes.
  • Improve job costing accuracy and operational financial visibility.
  • Ensure clean and accurate financial data flow between operations and accounting.
  • Design scalable financial systems to support long\-term growth.

Required Qualifications

  • CPA, ACCA, CA, CMA, or equivalent professional designation
  • 8–12\+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience
  • Prior experience as:
  • Virtual CFO
  • Finance Manager
  • Senior Controller
  • Director of Finance

Strong preference for candidates with experience supporting North American companies (Canada or USA).

Strong assets include experience with:

  • Project\-based accounting
  • Job costing
  • Construction or service\-based industries
  • Engineering, operations, or contracting environments

Additional requirements:

  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Strong executive communication skills
  • Comfortable working directly with ownership and senior leadership
  • Ability to independently drive financial accountability and clarity
